Cory Alexander

Cory Alexander is currently the Director of Choral activities at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and Associate Conductor of Allegro Chorale, Inc., a community choral ensemble serving the Permian Basin area of west Texas.  Dr. Alexander has frequently been engaged as a clinician and adjudicator, and his ensembles regularly collaborate with area choral and orchestral groups.  He has prepared choirs for performances under notable conductors in the U. S. and abroad, including a recent engagement as chorusmaster for the Greensboro Opera production of L’elisir d’amore, and has led concert tours to major cities across the United States.
 
Dr. Alexander has been active in choral music throughout his life and has sung under several notable conductors, including Robert Shaw.  He has conducted numerous university, church, and high school choral ensembles.  Alexander has appeared as a baritone soloist with Bel Canto Company, a semi-professional chorus in Greensboro, NC; the Marion Civic Chorale of Ocala, FL; the Central Florida Symphony Orchestra; and on Welsh television as a soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G.  He holds a DMA in choral conducting with a cognate in vocal performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Florida in Gainesville, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal music education from Central College in Pella, Iowa.
